About ISA:

The International Solar Alliance (ISA) alliance of various countries initiated by India, which lie either completely or partly between the Tropic of Cancer and the Tropic of Capricorn. 

The launch of the International Solar Alliance (ISA) was announced by H.E. Mr. Narendra Modi, the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India and H.E. Mr. Francois Hollande, former Hon’ble President of France on 30th November 2015, at the 21st session of United Nations Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP-21) in Paris, France. Former UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon attended the launch, alongside the Heads of about 120 nations who affirmed their participation in the Alliance to dedicate efforts for promotion of solar energy.

The International Solar Alliance (ISA) is an action-oriented, member-driven, collaborative platform for increased deployment of solar energy technologies as a means for bringing energy access, ensuring energy security, and driving energy transition in its member countries.

The ISA strives to develop and deploy cost-effective and transformational energy solutions powered by the sun to help member countries develop low-carbon growth trajectories, with particular focus on delivering impact in countries categorized as Least Developed Countries (LDCs) and the Small Island Developing States (SIDS).

Being a global platform, ISA’s partnerships with multilateral development banks (MDBs), development financial institutions (DFIs), private and public sector orgnaisations, civil society and other international institutions is key to delivering the change its seeks to see in the world going ahead.

ISA has endorsed NTPC, the largest power generating company in South Asia, through a competitive process of Swiss Challenge, as a Project Management Consultant (PMC) partner for implementation of solar projects in ISA member countries.

Implementation of Solar Parks and Projects in ISA Member Countries

NTPC has a mandate to implement solar parks and projects totalling 10,000 MW in ISA member countries.

NTPC is advising respective Governments and is providing PMC services for implementation of folloiwng Solar projects:

  • Togo – 285 MW Solar Park
  • Mali – 500 MW Solar Park
  • Malawi – 100 MW Solar Park
  • Cuba – 900 MW Solar Park
  • Niger – 50 MW Solar Park.
